History

Picture
In 2012 Tom Campbell was offered a partnership from a good friend. He informed Tom that he acquired numerous Bob King original swimbait designs from Bob himself.  This is when Dream Smasher Swimbaits was born. A swimbait company focused on making, high quality, unique swimbaits.
When Bob King designs a swimbait, his main focus is the swimming action.
Dream Smasher Swimbaits set off to design an internal harness built like no other and work on the aesthetics of the baits.
The process has been long and hard, no steps were skipped or copied. After many years of research, development and field testing, the swimbaits are ready for market.
We developed our own painting process. We wanted the best paint, something that would hold for the life of the bait. We created all original internal harnesses, this meant no internal floatation device and ensuring that it would not break even if folded in the fish's mouth.
This long process ended with an injection molded internal harness and weight system.
The final step was flotation. We did not want an internal floatation device,  we developed our own plastic with the floatation infused into the plastic. Dream Smasher Swimbaits have turned our ideas of a unique, durable and quality swimbait into a reality!

What makes Dream SmaSher Different?
Dream Smasher Swimbaits are made with a unique plastic blend that allows our swimbaits to have added flotation. This added floatation allows our swimbaits to swim at all speeds, crawl on the bottom, and self correct when needed.
Does Dream Smasher have a rigid flotation device?
No. Our swimbaits are designed to have the proper flotation infused into the plastic so no internal flotation device is needed. This allows our bait to have more action and easily fold into the fishes' mouth for better hook ups.
How well does the Paint hold up?
DSS has a proprietary paint system that has been field tested to no end. We have taken the extra steps to insure the paint will hold up to the rigors of trophy fishing.
Has Dream Smasher Been field tested?
Yes. DSS has been field tested for over 6 years. Searches of Dream Smasher Swimbaits on social media sites will show some of the results of our prototyping and field testing.
WHat is a sink Rate?
A sink rate tells an angler how many feet their bait falls per second.
Can I fish any sink rate in any depth of water?
Yes. Sink rates are just depths suggestions. For example, a fast sink swimbait can be fished in 5 ft. to dredge the bottom (a clean hard surface is recommended). A slow sink swimbait can be fished in 40 ft. of water, the angler just has to wait for the slow sink swimbait to sink to the bottom. These are just a couple of examples. Experiment and see what works best for you.
I see top hook and bottom hook swimbaits, what Gives?
Top hook swimbaits are considered to be a bit more weed resistant than bottom hooks. Some anglers prefer a bottom hook when fishing high in the water column. It really has a lot to do with personal preference.
Do I need Swimbait rods to throw DSS?
6" and 4" swimbaits can usually be thrown on baitcasting rods that anglers already own. A heavy flipping stick, punch stick or umbrella rod will usually do the job until you decide to purchase a swimbait rod. Swimbait rods have very specific ratings--be sure not to overpower your fish with too heavy of  a swimbait rod.
Do I need Swimbait reels to throw DSS?
No. A quality baitcaster (200 series) reel with enough line capacity to handle 15 to 20 pound test line is sufficient.
DSS internal Harness
All DSS have a proprietary internal harness. All weights are encased in injected plastic to ensure the weight will not start to break down the plastic over time. The injected plastic harness also ensures no hook twist on our top hook models and ensures our bottom hook with a built in swivel will last the life of the bait.
when is the best Time to throw a DSS?
Any time. Whether you are looking for actively feeding fish, a reaction strike or triggering an inactive school. There is not any specific season or time of day that our realistic swimbaits won't work.
Are DSS weedless?
No fishing lure is 100% weedless. Top hook swimbaits with the proper sink rates tend to get less weeds than bottom hook swimbaits. DSS does sell "The Weedless Booger" on our website and can help to make top hook swimbaits be even more weedless. Also be sure to check out the DSS 6"SLOTTED-WEEDLESS SHAD, designed to be fished with a 10/0 Owner Beast hook. This method of swimbait angling is considered to be "weedless".
I fish NORTHERN Pike and Musky infested waters, should i use a leader?
Yes, if you prefer. Anglers can choose any type of leader they would like if they are in fear of toothy critters. DSS recommends 60 to 80 pound tie-able fluorocarbon with double barrel sleeves. This is recommended to limit the hardware that exists on mass produced leaders, and to be as stealthy as possible to protect against toothy critters. This method, when done properly, takes about the same time as tying a knot and is the best method we have found. DSS will be offering these components on our website.
Are all DSS ORIGINAL Designs?
Yes. All DSS are Bob King original designs. Bob created the art and the function of all the original designs and swimming tails. DSS gave them life with our proprietary paint, plastic and internal harness.
